UFS' UFC 107 Pick 'Em Results
UFC

It's that time again. We have a winner! We've actually had a winner since Sunday afternoon but I've been crying in my soup over losing due to the Buentello/Struve decision that I boycotted posting until today. Now that I've taken my Midol and have everything under control, here are the results.

We had two contestants pick 10 of the 11 fights correctly, DSWIG and DOUG C. After the first tie-breaker we were still tied. In the second tie-breaker, DSWIG correctly picked the Main Event to end in the fifth round and DOUG C. did not.  Congrulations to DSWIG, this contest's winner!

On the flip side, we had one individual who only picked five of the eleven fights correctly. That person was DAVID R. Better luck next time, buddy. We also had a group of six who only picked six of the fights correctly. This sorry bunch included TARA M., WILLIAM V., MIKE H. ROBB W., last contest's winner JASON C. and our very own MARK LONG. On behalf of UFS, I apologize.

Okay, ladies and germs. It's that time again.  Seems like less than five days ago that our last Pick 'Em challenge ended and already we're ready for another. Whether your're ready or not, UFC 107 is upon us and it's a big card. It's going to take some mighty, mental gymnastics to pick the winners of these fights and beat me as I try to regain my picking pride.

Will BJ Penn continue to dominate the lightweight division? Will Diego Sanchez, with the power of stevia, overwhelm and overcome "The Prodigy".  Make your picks and let's find out. Put your credibility where your mouth is and see how you stack up against the rest of the chumps, mainly Mark, in picking against me.

If you want to play, see the "UFC 107 Pick 'Em" link at the top of the page. Remember, you must be registered to win but that's not a big deal. We will never contact you for anything other than to tell you you won.........or you suck, maybe.  Give it a shot.  You can't win if you don't play.

Once again, the results have been tabulated, checked, rechecked, verified, authorized and approved. It saddens my heart to say that Jason Cox of Colorado is the winner of UFS' The Ultimate Fighter Pick 'Em Challenge. No tie-breaker(s) was needed as Jason won outright. To the victor go the spoils, so we'll get him his t-shirt and trophy as soon as it's above 20 degrees outside.

For those of you who care, of the hundreds who played, our very own Mark Long took second place.  Sadly, I finished in the bottom half with the rest of the losers with only four fights picked correctly. I don't feel so bad as only two fights separated me from the winner.

If you're wondering, here are how our readers predicted the fights "Read More"....

TUF-Heavyweights Pick 'Em Challenge

Okay, people. It's on, again! This weekend will mark UltimateFightSource's second Pick 'Em Challenge. This edition is based on this season's "The Ultimate Fighter; Heavyweights" program. Will we see Denver's very own Brendan Schuab win the competition or will it go to pre-contest favorite Roy "Big Country" Nelson?  Along with that, we have nine other fights to air free on Spike TV.

Again, if you think you have the "skills" to go head-to-head with your fellow readers and the UFS staff, here's your chance to prove it. Pick the winners of this weekend's ten fights, with two tie-breaker questions, and you just might win yourself a UFS t-shirt along with our highly coveted UFS Pick 'Em, champion's trophy. Just click on the "TUF-Heavyweights Pick 'Em" link at the top of the site.

Even if you don't believe you have the skills to hang with the likes of me and my greatness (not Mark because his picks sucked in our last Pick 'Em challenge), don't let that keep you from entering. One of our co-champions won by choosing fighters based on how she liked the sound of their names.  Are you kidding me? Go make me a sandwich!

Sac up, pick the winners and earn the prestige associated with being the top Pick 'Em competitor. That's not it, though. Being a Pick 'Em champion carries with it a heavy burden and responsibility. As "champion", you will be tasked with carrying your champion's trophy with you day and night.

"Why", you ask? Let me tell you why. (Read More)

UFS' UFC 106 Pick 'Em Result

The auditors have been working on tabulating the final results and they are in. After checking, double checking and reviewing final results, the accounting group we've contracted to handle determining a winner has made it official.

UltimateFightSource.com's UFC 106 Pick 'Em winners are Phil J. and Mary. H.  Both picked six of the nine fights correctly and also picked the two tie-break questions correctly.  Remember that no one received credit for the Karo Parisyan/Dustin Hazelett fight and the same goes for the Uno/Camoes fight, which ended in a draw.

At the end of the night, we had a four way tie between Phil, Mary, MYSELF and Corey M.  Had Tito Ortiz won the final fight, Corey M. and I would have won but, alas, Forrest Griffin put it on in the third and pulled out the decision.  Damn you, Tito!

Well, no use in crying over spilled milk.  Congratulations to our two winners.  We'll get them their trophies and t-shirts immediately.  For those who played, thank you. For those who didn't, we'll hope to have you compete in our next Pick 'Em event which should be the TUF Finale show.

For some stats on the picks, "Read More"...

Okay, people. You asked for it, you got it. This weekend will mark our inaugural UFC Pick 'Em Challenge. If you think you have the skills to go head-to-head with your fellow readers and the UFS staff, here's your chance to prove it. Pick the winners of this weekend's eleven fights, with two tie-breaker questions, and you just might win yourself a UFS t-shirt along with our highly coveted UFS Pick 'Em, champion's trophy.

As a Pick 'Em champion, you're entered into an even greater challenge; our "Master of All Champions" competition. How do you become the "MOAC"? It's easy. The champion who submits the most "unique" pic of them and the trophy, as voted by your fellow readers, will win our "MOAC" challenge. If you're kicking a field goal during half-time of the Super Bowl, your trophy better be there. If you're making it rain with dollar bills and drinking Cristal straight out the bottle, your trophy better be there. You feel me?

We'll create a gallery for all of our champion's pics and at the end of each quarter we'll post a survey for our readers to determine who is the "Master of All Champions".  The "MOAC" will win a $100 gift-card from a yet-to-be-determined vendor....but it's not about the money, is it? It's about kicking sand in some fool's face and the only way that's going to happen is to win this Pick 'Em challenge.

Enough said, let's do this! Login and see "UFC 106 Pick 'Em" under "Home" in the Main Menu. Good luck and make magic happen.

Love,

UFS Staff

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, the Rocky Mountain Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (RMBJJF) held it's 4th US Open Invitational tournament in Arvada, CO.  The event was attended by several MMA/BJJ celebrities, including Relson Gracie, Cris Cyborg, War Machine, Frank Lester and Cameron Dollar.  All were on hand to support RMBJJF's effort in raising awareness for BreastCancer.org. A portion of the event's proceeds were donated to BreastCancer.org.

The level or participation and competition for the event were equally impressive.  In total, there were nearly three-hundred participants in approximately 190 divisions, inclusive of divisions for all genders, weights, ages and skill levels.

When the dust settled, the final Team results were as follows:

Adult Men/Women &Teens Overall Team Standings:
1st Place - Easton/McMahon BJJ
2nd Place - Zingano/Colorado BJJ
3rd Place - Relson Gracie

Kids Team Standings:
1st Place - Easton/McMahon BJJ
2nd Place - High Altitude
3rd Place - Zingano/Colorado BJJ

For individual results, you can find them HERE, when posted.

Congratulations to all who competed and contributed to such a great event!  A special thanks and congratulations to RMBJJF who not only put together a great event but found a way to raise awareness and funds for a great cause.  We look for more great events from RMBJJF in the near future.
