Strikeforce is looking to compete with the UFC in the MMA market, but Saturday's card put them more into a competition with Ambien. Despite an exciting moment or two, the overall poor production served as a great sleep aid. Hopefully their next big card, rumored for CBS in April, will more than make up for this show.

Full results and a little commentary are after the jump as always!

OFFICIAL RESULTS
  • Nick Diaz def. Marius Zaromskis via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 4:38- Diaz continued to impress at welterweight, taking out the scrappy Zaromskis, but I still have my doubts about him taking on guys like GSP, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch and so on.
  • Champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos def. Marloes Coenen via TKO (strikes) - Round 3, 3:40-These fights are getting tedious. I am tired of seeing fighters like Cyborg and Gina Carano beating down much smaller opponents. Either make them drop weight or go find the proper size opponents for them.
  • Herschel Walker def. Greg Nagy via TKO (strikes) - Round 3, 2:17-Herschel looked decent for a guy making his MMA debut, but this fight had no business on a major promotion, except to bring eyeballs to the tube. Unfortunately, after the luster wore off, the fight was not competitive and very boring. Not exactly what you want to put on for newer fans.
  • Robbie Lawler def. Melvin Manhoef via knockout (punch) - Round 1, 3:33-Poor Melvin! He was thoroughly dominating Lawler and about to kick Robbie's right leg into the Atlantic Ocean, but as he tried for a finish, he dropped his hands and took a shot to the jaw that gave him a loss instead.
  • Bobby Lashley def. Wes Sims via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 2:06-Sims is a disgrace to the sport. He doesn't take his fights seriously, and for a guy looking for a break, he was out of shape and not prepared for the opportunity that came along. i still don't know about Lashley, but my feeling is, that any decent heavyweight would take him out without much trouble.
PRELIMINARY CARD RESULTS
  • Jay Hieron def. Joe Riggs via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

  • David Gomez def. Craig Oxley via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Pablo Alfonso def. Marcos DaMatta via submission (armbar) - Round 1, 1:47
  • Hayder Hassan def. Ryan Keenan via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 2:42
  • John Kelly def. Sabah Homasi via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 2:48
