We know you're all fans of MMA, but do all of you train in some aspect of the sport? Whether it be Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing or wrestling, we believe everyone should train in at least one of these disciplines. This helps to not only increase your knowledge of the sport but to increase your overall fitness and well-being. With that said, we present to you our first installment of an episode we'll be presenting weekly; UltimateFightSource's Technique of the Week by Mario "Busy" Correa. Professor Correa has a world-class, Jiu-jitsu game so we'll look to him to help us understand some of the finer details related to take downs, sweeps and submissions that we see in MMA events. Unfortunately, there was only one submission at UFC 104, a growing and disturbing trend we're noticing at UltimateFightSource. It was a triangle choke finish by Stefan Struve. Since that didn't provide us a lot to work with, Professor Correa will go over the finer details of the submission along with transitions to other submissions. UltimateFightSource views our Technique section as a collaborative. If you train, and your head instructor has a signature move, punch, kick, take down, etc., we'd like to see it. The only way that happens is for you to submit it to the site. We want your schools and instructors to help us grow this repository of MMA knowledge so it can be shared among all readers. For those who don't train, maybe this will provide the motivation to help you take the first step towards getting in the gym. As my instructors always tell me, "the hardest part is getting on the mat". Once you're there, everything else is easy....and fun! Excellent suggestion Supermatt! High Guard is definitely in the mix and a specialty of Professor Correa's.
