Last nights debut of the UFC in Virginia, was, by all accounts a great success. In my eyes, it was marred by bad officiating and poor production flow. Did we really need to be inundated by SpikeTV's newest sitcom? Aside from that, it wasn't a bad card, just not enough fights. Let's make these 3 hours every time! Results and Awards are after the jump, as always!

The UFC's little sister, the WEC, once again kept us entertained on a Sunday night. It was a great sports weekend, with the NFL playoffs kicking off, culminating with a record breaking game between Green Bay and Arizona. How could the sports world follow that spectacle? With another high energy night of fights, featuring the lighter weight classes! A lightweight title unification and many of the promotions biggest names, headlined a card that we will surely be paying for in the near future. With Brazilian Lightweight Champion, Jose Aldo, getting his next opponent in the winner of Urijah Faber vs Rafael Assuncao, there is talk that the WEC's very first pay-per-view event, could feature that fight. Make the jump for the full results, awards, bonuses and my very own thoughts!

5 ounces of Pain has a report that the UFC has sold a minority share of their company to Sheik Tahnoon, who is the son of the former president of the United Arab Emirates. Sheik Tahnoon is a Renzo Gracie student and the founder of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club, the most prestigious no-gi grappling competition in the world. The report has few details, leaving the percentage sold, price and effect on day-to-day operations, greatly unknown. What I know, is, this is one of the wealthiest families in the world, with a great affection for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and MMA. I see this as only a positive move, providing Zuffa with an influx of money and an individual with a great reputation amongst grapplers and fans. This explains a lot about the UFC holding a show in Abu Dhabi, UFC president, Dana White, spending so much time in the region lately and Renzo Gracie entering the UFC. Check back, we will provide details as they become available.

Strong rumors about UFC cards generally start circulating about 3-4 months out from the event. Here is the latest on UFC 112, which will take place April 10th in Abu Dhabi. -Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort is expected to happen and take place on this card. This has become a highly anticipated fight, but I don't see it going much differently than most of Silva's dominating victories. -BJ Penn vs Gray Maynard or Frankie Edgar. Not to surprising, considering these are the two leading candidates to challenge Penn for his title. I think Maynard would be the better fight, especially since he has been running his mouth about BJ. Of course, Gray has to get past Nate Diaz next Monday night, or this won't happen. -Matt Hughes vs Renzo Gracie. This has been expected for months now and it should be happening here. Hughes returns to face another Gracie legend. Will it be either fighter's swan song or a return to contention? If these all happen, it would make for a great show. I fully expect 2010 to be packed with amazing shows, as the MMA landscape is more competitive than ever, with very high stakes. Plus the UFC has to do something with all their stars returning from injury and illness the past few months!
